Caramelized Apple Crisp

Ingredients

  • 4 apples, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) butter
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) sugar
  • Pinch salt
  • 250 ml (1 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) baking powder
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) butter
  • 250 ml (1 cup) oat flakes
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) brown sugar
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) ground ginger

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, melt butter and sugar until caramelized. Add apples and sauté for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and place into 4 ramekins, set aside.
  2. In a bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add butter and cut into dry ingredients until a fine crumbly texture is obtained. Add oats, brown sugar and ginger. Mix well.
  3. Sprinkle mixture evenly over all 4 ramekins. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Cook in the oven for 12 minutes
