Ingredients
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) butter
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 1 cup (250 mL) frozen green peas
- 3 cups (750 mL) chicken broth
- 2 cups (500 mL) milk
- 6 tbsp (90 mL) all-purpose flour
- 3 cups (750 mL) diced cooked chicken or turkey
- Few pinches of grated nutmeg
- Salt and pepper
- 1-2 Pie crust dough
Preparation
- In saucepan, sauté celery and carrots in butter for 5 minutes over medium-high heat. Stir in broth and peas. Add milk and bring to boil. Thicken with flour, stirring constantly.
- Add chicken, or turkey, and grated nutmeg and season to taste. Simmer, stirring until mixture thickens. Pour into large oven-proof baking dish, or individual ones, and cover with crust. Seal well and bake in oven on baking sheet at 400 °F (200 °C) for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from oven and serve.
